Most of us can remember the infamous "Food Pyramid" from our earlier years, but rarely do we remember the details.

So here's a refresher....

The Food Groups

*Grains
*Vegetables 
*Fruits 
*Oil
*Milk
*Meat & Beans



Tips:
Make half your plate fruits and vegetables. 
Make at least half of your grains whole grains. 
Make your protein lean.
Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk.
Oils can provide essential nutrients
.

Back to Sleep

Every mom needs plenty of rest in order to keep up with the everyday stress and family responsibilities. Here are four ways to help you fall asleep faster.

Eat dinner early. Eat dinner early preferably around sundown in order to give your body enough time to digest and not interrupt your sleeping patterns.

Drink tea. A warm cup of decaf tea can help relax your body and help you fall asleep. Try Yogi Bedtime tea http://www.yogiproducts.com/products/details/bedtime-tea/

Play relaxing music. Turn off your TV, shut down your computer and turn on a few instrumental tunes.

Take a warm bath. Take a warm lavender bath to relax your muscles and slow down your mind.

It's All Green

Green drinks are great for you. They have been known to help with detoxifying, alkalizing and energizing the body. You can drink them alone or add a small amount to your smoothie. Here are a few options to add a little green to your diet. Before you judge a drink by it's color...Try it.

It taste better than it looks!


                                                                      
OPTION 1:  Make it

Ingredients
2 cups spinach
2 cups cucumber
1 head of celery
1/2 inch or teaspoon ginger root
1 bunch parsley
2 apples
Juice of 1 lime
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a blender. This makes approximately 28-30 ounces, or 3-4 servings.

I'm excited to announce the SBM Tri-monthly Online Book Club. Yes, I said "Tri-monthly".  Focusing on a book every three months will give everyone enough time to read the book of choice while balancing their daily activities.

I don't want to add another item to your long "To-Do" list, but I do want to create an opportunity for us to learn, share and grow together while enjoying some fun reads. This will be your chance to stay connected with SBM and share your opinions and views.



The details...
1. Every three months, a lucky SBM will be chosen to pick the next book of choice.
2. The chosen book will have to be a different topic from the previous book.
3. Discussion questions will be listed to spark conversation.
4. Readers will be able to leave comments regarding the highlighted book on the blog post.
